The Zeigarnik Effect

IF your anything like me your probably trying to pronounce the darn word.
Ok it's pronounced, ZA-GAR-NIK.
The way it's pronounced isn't really of great importance but what it does is important.

I first heard this from James Grandstaff but it was utilized originally in internet marketing by Mark Joyner. This can be used in Network Marketing.

Here's a little history....I won't bore you to death...Promise :).

The Zeigarnik Effect was discovered by Dr. Bluma Zeigarnik. - History lesson over, told you I wouldn't bore you.

Ok, so know you might be wondering, like myself and many other did, "What the hell is the Zeigarnik effect???"

Well the info behind it is that Bluma found that people remember more when they are distracted and come back to a subject, Tony Robbins speaks about something similar but interupting a pattern. An example of this is a waiter at a restaurant, you've just ordered and this waiter remembers everything you and 5 other people have asked for. Ask him 4 mins later, he has no clue. Reason is because he was focusing on the task of "Remember for now."

IF you flipped it around on yourself. Your going to study something today like that Jim Rohn book, or John C. Maxwell course. You begin, take notes, then have your pattern interrupted and then go back to it, and you do this continually until you finish the course/book.....You will find you remember most of it...........
TO SUM UP.....People remember interrupted or incomplete tasks bettr then completed ones.

They use this in everything, TV show's, Elections etc. Think about your favorite TV show, I love cartoons and one of my favorites is a Japanese Anime called, Dragon Ball Z. Now when I watched DBZ on TV there would a point where the main protagonist is just about to die and the bad guy seems to have the upper hand....Then it either ends or they throw in a commericial. If it ends they do a little preview with a narrator over-voice asking questions like, "Will our main character come out alive or is he toast, tune in next time on Dragon Ball Z".... What do you think I did the next day, that's write tune and watch what happened.

Now how does this work in internet marketing and network marketing...
(I am using an internet marketing approach because it is easier to explain)

Imagine you are on a webpage and the headline reads something like,
"LEARN HOW TO EFFORTLESSLY MANIFEST WEALTH, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS INTO YOUR LIFE, QUICKLY AND SIMPLY"

Then it continues to say about how the person's story of how they discovered it, where they were and were they are now. By the time you have finished reading the sales letter you just have to know...."What is this product and what can it do for me?"

Pretty much the marketer has gone from, giving you a thinking headline, made you read through the page, during which you've started to think about what the hell this product is, then your left on a cliff hanger. After which you've got the feeling of wanting to know.

Now this applies in a lot of area's of life.

A good friend who only uses his Alias in blogs, Magnetik is actually writing something similar but its to do with relationships etc...or something like that. Click here to go and read about that post

Best wishes,

Adil
