Goals? Why do I need goals?

"Goals? Why Do I need goals!!???"

This is what an angry friend said to me, while I was coaching him.

So I'm going to answer this but to everyone as well,

Ok so we know what a Goal is, to recap - It's working toward something that you want on a dead line.

It can be a dream, could be to score some points for your sport, I don't know, it's your goal.

Now there important because if they weren't we wouldn't be here today... By that I mean, our ancestors had the goal and desire to create offspring and thus we are here.

There are many reasons why we need goals, like the one above, there's one's to make us feel proud of ourselves...
For instance the competition level of things, why do you want to win? Because it makes you feel good. So in effect you make it your primary goal at that time, to win, right?

Another reason could be for happiness - we could make our goal to earn about $1000 this week. That's the goal, so you work to achieve it.

Pretty much saying, OUR GOALS ARE OUR GUIDES!

Celebrities are the prime example of people who lose focus of there goals and screw up.... Let's review and your in there shoes now.

Your dream is to be a famous Actor/Actress, then you work toward it and make it your goal, you work and work toward it and you become an Actor/Actress.... Then you have a goal to earn x amount of money, do x amount of things in x amount of time......When you have all the money, free time and done all the things you want. Your life feels empty so you go drinking, you start to find new thrills and because your famous your seen doing these things and it tarnishes your career.

So you see the celebrity has got a goal, achieved it but didn't set new ones, and for those that don't know, we're either falling forward toward our success or backwards away from it....We can't stay still.

So that is why goals are important....I think I went off topic a few times, but if you know me, you definitely know I have that tendency....Sorry hehe.

Hope this helps,

Best wishes,

Adil

Effective Goal setting

Hey guys and gals,

I hope all of you had a terrific week and yes it is Monday but that doesn't mean its a bad thing, today is just the start of your week which means its another chance for you to go out there and live YOUR DREAMS!

I recently re read the book that I consider one of the best business books ever written, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill,
You can get a free ebook copy from www.dcateaches.com
This book covers in more detail what we will be talking about which is effective goal setting.

Step 1:
Think of a goal you want to accomplish, could be money, a status, promotion anything you so desire to have.

Step 2:
We will use money as the example.
Take the amount you want, say £50 or $50 which ever you want. double it so its £100. This way you will to get the £100 and go beyond the £50.

Step 3:
Write it down in the positive as if it has already happened. E.G "I have £100 more then i did at the end of last month - 30th November 2008"
Date it because you have a deadline to work toward.

Step 4:
Place it somewhere were you can see it daily.

Step 5:
Read it Aloud twice a day but have emotion and feeling in your heart when you do, may I suggest that you read once in the morning and once before you sleep. This is because your mind is more susceptible to taking in the information in the first 20 mins of you awakening.

Step 6:
Write out a definitive action plan that you can use daily to help you achieve your goal.

Step 7:
Follow through with step 6 and practice daily.

Best Wishes,

Adil
